Shed Winter Weight With Aromatherapy Essential Oils
A recent study found that when it comes to weight loss, fad diets don’t work nearly as well as the most natural methods: eat less, eat healthier, exercise more. Whether you’re working to lose a significant amount of body fat or just slimming down a bit more for warmer weather, staying the course can be incredibly challenging (thanks billion-dollar fast-food marketing budgets!). But, there is another natural and effective tool in curbing appetite and reducing cravings while boosting your energy levels: Essential oils.
Essential oils are powerfully complex. They work on subtle levels to bring information and instruction to the body. They are safe and convenient to use for a number of ailments from allergies to depression and, of course, for aiding in weight loss. I recommend frequent inhalation every few hours, applying to the wrists and neck (in a carrier oil like jojoba) or using a diffuser.
The fragrant, spicy or fruity aromas may make you think of food, but some of them can actually have the opposite effect in curbing your hunger and cravings. Essential oils of grapefruit, peppermint, lemon, cinnamon, and bergamot?all assist with digestion and can decrease your hunger levels while keeping you feeling full long after meals.
When the mind is calm, relaxed and focused, it?s less likely to be easily distracted by a donut?s wafty breeze blowing in your office window. You can effectively manage your craving intensity by regularly inhaling essential oils of lavender, tangerine, ylang ylang, patchouli, rosemary, clary sage, vetiver and orange. You may notice more mental clarity and effectiveness too, which is always a bonus!
Dieting or not, many of us often struggle with our energy levels, and we?re especially vulnerable to fatigue and listlessness when eating less (or more!) or adjusting to a new diet. Essential oils used to improve energy include lemongrass, basil, ginger and cedar. You can also notice uplifting and energizing effects from lemon and grapefruit and rosemary.
There are quite a few oils to work with, so try blending a few complimentary fragrances to use throughout your day like bergamot, lavender, lemongrass, or grapefruit, clary sage and ginger. Mix em up and make your own fragrant blends!
